Fragile Sanctuary by Catherine Cowles

I saw Fragile Sanctuary by Catherine Cowles all over Instagram days before it was supposed to release, so I downloaded it on its birthday! This was my first book by Catherine Cowles and I am now prepared to get lost in her backlist. This is her first book in the Sparrow Fall Series, with book two, Delicate Escape, coming out this Fall!

Synopsis

Anson Hunt is a grumpy ex-FBI agent who has found himself in the small town of ___. He is not necessarily thriving, but he is surviving by ignoring his past and the demons that still haunt him. He is working with his best friend as part of his construction crew, specifically fire restoration. He is caught off guard by their newest project; not the house, but the woman who will be living in it when they are done: Rhodes.

Rhodes is anxious, excited and full of hope as she begins restoration on the home that she lived in long ago–the one where her parents died and her whole life changed well over a decade ago. She moves into the guest house while restoration is taking place. Her brother's company is in charge of the project, but with that comes Anson–the grumpy construction worker who always has a scowl on his face.

But as time goes on, Rhodes discovers Anson’s tragic past as  she slowly peels back the layers of his life. Anson is there for her when another fire occurs at her home, and then again when she realizes that the fire was no accident.

Unfortunately, their past is about to catch up to them both.

Review

I devouredFragile Sanctuary by Catherine Cowles in 24 hours and was very sad when it ended. Where has Catherine Cowles been all my life? The chemistry between Anson and Rhodes was off the charts. I loved the grumpy/sunshine balance. Rhodes was the definition of sunshine with her love for plants, animals, and her family. She would do anything for anyone with a smile on her face.

I loved how this novel had a little bit of everything: found family, suspense, romance, and friendship. The only reason I did not give it five stars was because I was annoyed at how Rhodes reacted when she found out about one of Anson’s secrets. But that was a short-lived problem and otherwise this book was PERFECT.

My favorite part about this book was that it was written with dual POVs. Being able to see both perspectives is what made me unable to put my Kindle down. This book was the true definition of “bookstagram made me read it.” I can’t wait to read more about all of Rhodes’ other siblings and their journeys. Catherine did a great job of planting seeds for most of them so we can start getting excited!

Make sure you download Fragile Sanctuary by Catherine Cowles on Kindle Unlimited or order the physical copy (it is worth owning) ASAP so we can chat about how much we love it together!

Catherine has a few other series, Lost & Found Series, Tattered & Torn Series, Shutter Lake Series and The Wrecked Series. I am halfway through the Shutter Lake Series and loving that one too!
