Books Worth The Hype: 25 Authors I Discovered on Bookstagram

While I started reading again in 2020, as many did because of the pandemic, my bookstagram journey didn’t begin until April 2022. I always posted the books I was reading on my normal Instagram account and a friend mentioned that I should have an Instagram account just for my books.

At the time, I had a shelf full of books that had plenty of space to grow. Now, two years later, I have books in almost every room in my home. I have discovered so many new authors and learned so much about the book and publishing world. I have found a community here and made so many friends along the way. Last summer I even got to go on a book retreat with some of the most amazing people that I met through bookstagram.

A year after starting a bookstagram, I decided to create my own book blog. I have enjoyed this past year of working on it and look forward to collaborating with more authors over the next year.

To celebrate two years on bookstagram and one year with my website, I want to share 25 authors I would not have found if it wasn’t for the bookstagram community. Because there are so many, I have divided it into three genres: romance, fantasy, and thrillers.

Books Worth The Hype
Books Worth The Hype

Romance

  1. Jessica Booth

Bookstagram brought me Jessica Booth, and in bringing me Jessica, also brought me her books: A Match Made in Autumn and A Picture Perfect Summer. These contemporary romances are the perfect books to get you out of a reading slump. I have had the opportunity to see what's coming next for Jessica, and I can’t wait for her to share it with the world.

2. Ari Wright

If it wasn’t for bookstagram, I never would have been able to connect with Ari Wright and read her amazing books! I love the Instant Always Series, a billionaire romance series. She also has a new series that came out this winter that has taken the book world by storm, MVP: Most Valuable Pack Series. Make sure to check her out if you have not already!

3. Sarah Adams

I discovered Sarah Adams with her book When In Rome and quickly became obsessed with her books. I have read every book she has written and her newest book published April 2nd, The Rule Book.

4. Mariana Zapata

The Wall of Winnipeg and Me kept showing up on my feed when I was scrolling and I decided to give it a try. I fell in love with Mariana Zapata’s slow burn love stories after that. Other books I loved by her are Kulti, From Lukov With Love, and All Rhodes Lead Here. I have two more on my shelf I need to dive into as well.

5. Lyla Sage

The cover of Done and Dusted caught my eye when it came out in 2023, and there has been so much hype about it that I decided to check it out. I fell in love with the characters and immediately read Swift and Saddled as soon as I could. I can’t wait to see what else Lyla has for us in the years to come.

6. Melanie Harlow

I am not sure where on Instagram I found Melanie Harlow, but I got sucked in with her book Runaway Love. After that, I was on a mission to read every book in the Cherry Harbor Series. So far, my favorite has been Make-Believe Match, but there is still one more book left to come out of the series.

7. Lauren Asher

The Dreamland Billionaire Series stole my heart pretty early on in my bookstagram journey. I read them on Kindle Unlimited and ended up buying physical copies of all of them. I have also read part of both her other series, Dirty Air and Lakefront Billionaires, which is still being written.

8. Elsie Silver

Cowboy romances have taken bookstagram by storm and I feel like Elsie Silver started the trend. She has two series out, Chestnut Springs and Gold Rush Ranch, and while I have only read Chestnut Springs I can’t wait to read more by her. She has another series that is just starting to publish titled, Rose Hill

9. Sophie Lark

I kept seeing Anastasia all over bookstagram and then found the book one day at Goodwill. I have yet to pick it up, but ended up getting lost in her Brutal Birthright Series and fell in love. Whenever I see a book by her I will always pick it up!

10. Katherine Center

Katherine Center is not only an amazing author, but also a delightful human being. The Salted Caramel Madams Book Club has had the pleasure of chatting with her when we read her book Hello Stranger. I also have read The Bodyguard, Things You Save in a Fire, and The Rom-commers and I have loved each one!

Fantasy

11. Sarah J Maas

Like many booksta girlies, I loved the Divergent Series, Twilight, and all of those fun fantasy series growing up. So obviously I read one Sarah J. Maas book and let it become my whole personality. I got hooked with her A Court of Thorns and Roses series, and went down the whole Maas universe rabbit hole. I can’t wait to see what comes next.

12.  Lindsey Sanford

Another beautiful soul that I have been able to meet through this community is Lindsey Sanford. I got lost in her novel, The New Queens Crown and can’t wait to read her second book in the series, The New World’s Sacrifice. I have also had the pleasure of beta reading another YA novel by Lindsey that hopefully will be published this year.

13. Amber Lynn Natusch

An Echo of Fire was introduced to me through Book of Matches Media in Fall of 2023. I devoured this book and decided I had to have my own copy. This new fantasy series is going to be the next big thing, and I can’t wait to read book two.

14. Lauren Roberts

I kept seeing Powerless all over instagram and in so many reels that I gave up and bought myself a copy. I was blown away at how amazing the story was, and the level of chemistry and tension that kept me on my toes. I already adore this series and have pre-ordered the next one. It is worth the hype!

15. Rebecca Ross

While I know Rebecca Ross has written several books, I got FOMO from everyone reading Divine Rivals and decided to pick it up one day when I was in Target. I became obsessed and now everything Rebecca Ross has written is on my TBR.

16. Dana Claire

The author's publicist reached out to me one day and asked if I would be interested in reading War of the Sea, book one in the Olympian War Series. I quickly fell in love and was able to get an ARC of all three books in her trilogy, War of the Sea, War of the Land and War of the Mind. This YA romantasy series can also be read as interconnected standalones and the full review is on my blog.

17. Stephanie Garber

I know I have already messed up when it comes to reading Stephanie Garbers books. Instead of starting with her Caraval Series, I jumped in at her Once Upon a Broken Heart Series. I will go back and read the Caraval Series sometime this year!

18. Carissa Broadbent

I kept seeing The Serpent and The Wings of the Night everywhere and was recommended to me by the Queens of Fantasy, my bookstagram friends Nicki and Jessica. This book was AMAZING and reminded me of my love for vampires. I quickly read book two, The Ashes and the Star-Cursed King, and adored it. There is a novella I still need to read and then I will go back and read every book ever written by Carissa Broadbent.

19. Lexi Ryan

While I did not see this one on Instagram, one of my bookstaram best friends sent These Hollow Vows and These Twisted Bonds to me last year for my birthday and they were perfect. If you love fantasy and have not read them yet, you are missing out.

Thrillers

20. Sally Hepworth

Sally Hepworth is one of my favorite thriller authors of all time. I own so many of her books that I have not read yet, but adored The Mother-in-Law, The Soulmate, The Good Sister, and Darling Girls. I just need to find more time to catch up on her back list!

21. Lisa Jewel

While I have several Lisa Jewel books on my shelf, the ones that bookstagram got me to read was her series, The Family Upstairs. The Family Upstairs and The Family That Remains were excellent thrillers that I would recommend to any thriller lover.

22. Megan Miranda

I read The Last House Guest and then started picking up all her books when I found them at Goodwills. Unfortunately I have yet to read all of the books I picked up, but I am on a roll with all of her new books that have come out, including The Last to Vanish and The Only Survivors. She has another one coming out this summer and I can’t wait!

23. Julia Clark

If you have not read the book Flight, you need to change that immediately. This thriller kept me on my toes and I never guessed the ending. Of course I had to have her book The Lies I Tell that came out in 2022, and have still yet to read it (don’t tell my dad).

24. Claire Douglas

I stumbled upon Claire Douglas when I read The Girls Who Disappeared. I was completely sold on the book and recommended it to all of my friends. Four girls are in a car accident one evening, only one is left in the wreckage, and the others disappeared. How could you not be obsessed? Since then I have also read Just Like The Other Girls and look forward to reading more of her novels.

25. Frieda McFadden

Frieda is everywhere. I can’t look at bookstagram for more than two minutes without one of her books popping up. While I have only read Never Lie, it was such a wild book that I still think about it. I googled the ending because sometimes pregnant MFC give me anxiety, and was still shocked. I now own several of her books, including The Housemaid, and can’t wait to dive into all of them!

Books Worth The Hype

These books are worth the hype. All of these authors and books have been the best part of my bookstagram journey. I can’t wait to see what else they write, and what other new authors I will come across in the years to come!!

Who is one of your favorite authors you found on bookstagram?

Thank you Jessica for editing this post :)
