A Match Made in Autumn by Jessica Booth Review

Updated: May 2, 2023

If you love romance with some spice, you are going to love A Match Made in Autumn. It is the perfect read to get you excited about all things Fall. Jessica Booth's debut novel was one of my favorite books I read last year and I can't wait until her next book makes it out into the world!

Fall books to read!

Synopsis

Amelia has been assigned to put together the Fall Festival in her small Louisiana town. When Amelia sees two newspaper reporters pull up, she is shocked to see Rhett Herbert get out of the vehicle. Rhett, the guy that she has been avoiding for ten years ever since that awkward moment in highschool. Thankfully, Jacob is the reporter covering the festival and not Rhett. Unfortunately, Amelia is desperate for the festival to be perfect, and that means swallowing her pride and asking Rhett's band to play for the event.

Rhett is struggling to find inspiration when he stumbles onto an interesting story. A young boy who went missing the night of the festival twenty years ago. He is chasing down every loose end trying to figure out what happened to him. His clues lead him to the one person right down the street from where the festival is taking place. Unfortunately, she hates the Fall Festival and doesn’t want to speak to anyone at all.

Amelia and Rhett are stuck working closely with each other the weeks leading up to the festival. The tension turns from anger to sexual and they keep finding themselves in very close quarters. They are both working towards something, and they both have surprises in store.

Review

I absolutely loved this book. Fall is my favorite time of year, so it is no surprise that I was obsessed with the setting. I could feel the fall vibes radiating off every page. The dual point of view helped to get a sense of both Amelia and Rhett’s personality. They both grew as characters individually throughout the book as well as together.

Amelia was such a fun character who is easy to relate to. Some of my favorite scenes in the book involved Amelia’s Aunt Margie. She has a fun personality, with a lot of spunk and doesn’t take any crap. She is a tough cookie, and I aspire to have her energy. I love how she always has a flask on her and is offering bourbon to everyone

When it comes to romance, enemies to lovers is one of my favorite tropes. Amelia and Rhetts romance was the perfect amount of spice and didn’t feel rushed. The best part about this book was that it was not just a romance, but a mystery. It pulls at your heart strings, and leaves you feeling at peace with the story.

I can’t wait for the next book in the series to come out, A Picture Perfect Summer featuring Jacob and Katie’s story!

Do you have a fun Fall read that you love?
